Lake Mburo National Park is often treated as a one-night stopover between Kampala and the southwest parks. It deserves much more than that. The park is small enough to feel intimate, but rich enough in wildlife and scenery to justify two or three nights on its own.
Walking Safaris
Unlike Uganda big savannah parks, Lake Mburo allows guests to walk freely with an armed ranger. Tracking zebras, impalas, topis, and buffaloes on foot gives you a perspective on the bush that no vehicle can replicate.
Horseback Safaris
Lake Mburo is one of very few places in East Africa where you can ride horses through open wildlife country. Getting close to zebras and antelopes from horseback is an experience that even seasoned safari travellers find extraordinary.
Boat Safaris on the Lake
The lake itself is a mosaic of papyrus swamps, hippo pools, and rocky shores alive with kingfishers, fish eagles, and African finfoot. A sunset boat trip is the perfect end to any day here.
