1. Mountain Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Uganda is home to roughly half of the world remaining mountain gorillas, and trekking to spend an hour with a habituated family in Bwindi is consistently rated among the most profound wildlife experiences on earth.
2. Chimpanzees in Kibale Forest
Kibale National Park has the highest density of primates of any African forest. Chimpanzee tracking here is the best in Uganda, with sighting rates consistently above 90%.
3. Tree-Climbing Lions in Queen Elizabeth
The Ishasha sector famous lions are on every wildlife photographer wish list. An early morning drive through the fig tree woodland usually delivers sightings within the first hour.
4. Elephants in Murchison Falls
The northern bank of Murchison Falls hosts one of Uganda largest elephant populations. Herds of 50 or more are common during the dry season.
5. Shoebill Stork on the Albert Nile
The prehistoric-looking shoebill is one of the world most sought-after birds. The papyrus swamps of the Albert Nile offer some of the most reliable sightings in Africa.
