Wildlife That Will Surprise You
Kidepo hosts over 77 mammal species, including cheetahs, striped hyenas, bat-eared foxes, and Rothschild giraffes — species you will not find in Uganda more visited parks. The Narus Valley floor is the heartbeat of the park, flooding seasonally and drawing enormous concentrations of game.
Birdlife Beyond Expectation
With over 475 recorded species, Kidepo is a birder paradise. The ostrich — absent from every other Ugandan park — is a common sight here alongside secretary birds, Abyssinian ground hornbills, and the striking Karamoja apalis found nowhere else on earth.
The Karamojong People
A cultural visit to a Karamojong manyatta adds a dimension to the safari that no other park in Uganda can match. The semi-nomadic Karamojong have coexisted with the wildlife of this valley for centuries.
